Our Story

Message from the founders Rather than writing a story in the third person, we decided to do it this way: a message directly addressed to you, the one reading this. Here’s how Maison Julai was born. Having grown up together, we were lucky to experience many things side by side — good times and bad. We grew up, sometimes under the same roof, sometimes apart, but the foundation of our way of thinking remained the same. Whether it was school, work, relationships, highs or lows, one thing never faded in us: the desire to share with the general public, with humanity on Earth, our innovative side, our taste for certain things, and our vision of the world. After all, our hours — just like yours — are numbered. And at this very moment, as you read this message, our time is passing. And how are we using it? What are we bringing to the world, beyond just living and breathing? Living beyond that. Inspiring, innovating, motivating, helping, showing… There is still so much to do here on Earth that offering nothing really bothered us. This question kept running through our minds. One of us was already thinking about it during his studies in Paris in 2021, wondering what to offer the entire world that could leave our mark — and he always ended up sketching… Sketches that, unknowingly at the time, would become the trigger for this adventure. Meanwhile, the other was working job after job to make ends meet, all while asking himself the same question every day: what are we doing, and who are we becoming? Humans grow and are inspired by many things, from all directions — good and bad. And the more we grow, the more we realize that life isn’t much different from what we see in movies. And maybe the stories in movies are often just reflections of real-life events that already happened to someone… History… History has always been written by the winners, and that’s the version we know. But what about those lost stories? How many are there? What did they have to offer? Are we going to vanish like those stories no one ever knew? That’s the question we asked ourselves one day in January 2023. And it was during that conversation that the idea came to us: build our own story. After all, these days everything is documented — it’s hard to make something disappear. So we talked about what could work, what wouldn’t… Long hours and several coffees accompanied this brainstorming/philosophical debate. Then one of us said words that instantly changed our mindset: "Why always us, but not everyone? Why is mankind so selfish? Why not create something that benefits everyone? At least, those who see and understand before others. Why not write the story of an entire life and of those who would dare to venture into the unknown so they won’t be forgotten once their numbered hours reach zero?" And with those words, the idea hit us immediately: the Hall of First. A hall where all the first ones will see their names engraved forever. And how to recognize them? They’ll wear our stone, drawn with heart and soul, and will be recognizable even from a distance. The sketch of this black and transparent pair of sunglasses was instantly validated. Then, on the same wavelength, the next steps followed naturally. The people who would choose to follow us had to receive something in return. Much more than a luxury product. Respect. Trust. A place in the very history of this brand. And so, with this mindset, Maison Julai opened and launched its first collection: Be Different – Bi-Color. This is where the story of the Julai people began and will continue to begin a new era each year, with the names and surnames of those who were there first. Those who had the vision before the others. Those who wanted to be part of this story.
