Our Story

Message from the Founders Rather than writing our story in the third person, we decided to do it this way: a message addressed directly to you, the one reading these words. Here is how Maison Julaï was born. Growing up together, we had the chance to share so many things—good and bad. Sometimes under the same roof, sometimes on our own paths, but the foundation of how we think has always been the same. School, work, relationships, highs and lows—one thing has never disappeared within us: the desire to share with the world, with humanity itself, our innovative side, our taste for certain things, and our vision of life. Because, after all, our hours—just like yours—are numbered. And at the very moment you are reading this message, our time is running. How do we use it? What do we bring beyond simply living and breathing? Life goes further than that. To inspire, to innovate, to motivate, to help, to show… There are so many things still left to do here on Earth that doing nothing felt unbearable. This question stayed with us. One of us was already thinking about it during his studies in Paris in 2021, wondering what could be offered to the whole world that would bear our imprint—and always ended up stopping at sketches… Sketches that, without knowing it then, would become the spark for this journey. Meanwhile, the other was working endless jobs just to get by, while asking himself every day: What are we doing, and who are we becoming? Humans grow and take inspiration from many things, from left and right, good and bad. And the more we grow, the more we realize that life isn’t all that different from what we see in films. Stories told in films are often reflections of realities someone has already lived. History… history has always been written by the winners, and that’s the one we know. But what about the stories that disappeared? How many of them are there? What could they have taught us? Are we destined to vanish like those stories no one remembers? That was the question we asked ourselves one day in January 2023. And during that discussion, the idea came to us: to build our own story. After all, nowadays, everything is documented, and making something disappear has become harder. So we debated about what could work, what might not… Long hours and countless coffees fueled that session of brainstorming and philosophical debate. Then one of us spoke words that instantly shifted our way of thinking: "Why always us, but not everyone? Why is man so selfish? Why not create something that benefits everyone? At least, those who see and understand before the rest. Why not write the story of a whole movement, of people who decide to venture into the unknown, so they won’t be forgotten once their numbered hours run out?" And with those words, the idea was born immediately: the Hall of Firsts. A hall where every pioneer would see their mark inscribed forever. And how would they be recognized? By wearing our pair—designed with heart and soul—and being identified even from afar. The sketch of that black and transparent pair of sunglasses was approved on the spot. Then, on the same wavelength, four more designs followed. The people who chose to follow us had to receive something in return. Much more than a luxury product. Respect. Recognition. A place in modern history. It is with this vision that Maison Julaï opened its doors and unveiled its first collection: Be Different – Bi-Color. And it is with this vision that Julaï launched, and will continue to launch, every new collection—with the names of those who were there first… those who had the vision before others… those who wanted to be part of this story.
